Helen R. (Zinchiak) Lasko

       Helen Ruth (Zinchiak) Lasko, 90, of  Linesville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Rolling Fields in Conneautville.  Helen had lived in the Harmonsburg area on McCarthy Road most of her life.

       She was born in Huntsburg, Ohio on August 29, 1922 to Samuel and Anna Marie Zinchiak.  On May 29, 1948 she married Maurice J. (Mike) Lasko at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church in Conneautville.  They were married 49 years. 

       Helen attended the Putman Corners one room school house and graduated from Harmonsburg High School where she played girls basketball and softball.  After graduating from Meadville Commercial College she was a personnel accountant for Avtex Fibers of Meadville and later transferred to the spinning department for many years. 

       She was a charter member of both Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Church and their Altar and Rosary Society.  Helen was a member of the Vernon Grange and the Eat and Travel Club. 

       Helen cherished her grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Grandma Great” and enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking .

       She is survived by two sons, John R. Lasko (Melody) of Conneautville and James M. Lasko (Cynthia) of Linesville; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike) Veroneau of Texas and Daniel (Jody) Lasko of Conneaut Lake; and six great-grandchildren, Faith and Hope Veroneau of Texas and August, Sarah, Mitchell and Emily Lasko of Conneaut Lake.  She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Zinchiak of Meadville and Mary Jane Zinchiak of Saegertown; a daughter-in-law, Joyce (Albert) White of Texas; Helen’s dear friend, Elaine  Lang of Meadville; and many, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

       Helen was preceded in death by her husband and parents, five brothers, John, Peter, Steve, George and Andrew, and a sister, Marian.      

       Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.  An altar and rosary service will be conducted at 6 p.m.

       Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 South Ninth St., Conneaut Lake, with Father Jeffrey J. Lucas as celebrant.   

       Burial will be in St. Philip Cemetery, Linesville.
