Sara Ruth (Giles) Corey

     Sara Ruth Corey, 91, formerly of Linesville passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, May 31, 2023, at Wesbury, Meadville where she had been residing.

     Sara was born in Fredonia, on September 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Sheridan and Rose Jane Tarr Giles.  Sara married James R. Corey on September 16, 1951,  they shared 54 years of married life.  

     Sara was a 1950 graduate of Linesville High School.  Continued education to become a licensed beautician.  Sara owned and operated her beauty shop in Akron, Ohio.  The family returned to Linesville.  Sara went to work for Talon Plant Seven, Meadville and was transferred to shipping before retirement.

     Sara was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Center Road, Linesville.  She enjoyed family gatherings, picnics at the Pal Fund and playing cards at the Senior Center.  Most of all, she enjoyed the time she had with Ed Shatto, her special companion. They met in 2012, he preceded her in death 2016.  They would travel to Florida for wintering or camping with Ed’s family in the summer.

     Survivors include three sons: Larry and Karen Corey, Linesville; Leslie and Cheryl Corey, Linesville; Lonnie and Pat Corey, Zanesville, Ohio; two daughters: Darlene and Eugene McCall, Conneautville and Melanie and Brian Mullen, Linesville; one brother; Herbert Giles, Linesville; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. 

     Preceded in death by her parents, husband James Corey, infant grandson, Troy McCall; four brothers: Arthur, LaRue, Russell and Robert Giles; and sister Luanna Hart.

     Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral, 6028 US Hwy 6, Linesville.

     A funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Tubbs officiating.

     Burial will be private in Conneaut Township Cemetery, Linesville.
