Richard Lee Jones

     Richard (Dick) Lee Jones Sr., 91, formerly of Linesville, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville. 

     Born November 2, 1931, in Meadville, he was the son of Clyde and Jessie (Mayashurst) Jones.  He married Shirley L. Ellis on October 27, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

     Dick served our country in the United States Army.  He worked for Alltel and Indiana Bell for 37 years.   

     He was a member of the Linesville Presbyterian Church and served as an elder in 1969.   He had also served as mayor and councilman for Linesville.  In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his workshop. 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Shirley L. Jones of Linesville; a daughter, Ginny Headley and her husband, Dave, of Mercer; grandchildren, Josh and Kelly Jones, Beau Headley of Erie and Cassie Pencek and her husband, Jarrad, of Cranberry Township; great-grandchildren, Jovi and Cruz Pencek and Makenna Headley; two sisters, Shirley Davis and Peggy Frye both residents of Rolling Fields in Conneautville; and many nieces and nephews. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Lou Jones; a son, Richard Lee Jones Jr.; and his siblings, Lyle, Leon, Nelson, Burt, Bill, Clyde, and Jack Jones and Laura Jane Goldsmith. 

     A funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be private in Linesville Cemetery.

     The family would like to honor and thank Wesbury Grace Rehabilitation Center, Hospice of Crawford County and Joel White from the VA of Erie for the care and kindness they provided.
