Frank J. Funk, 85, of Espyville, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, November 1, 2019, at St. Paul’s in Greenville surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 17, 1934, in McKeesport, he was the son of Alfred and Agnes Liebold Funk. He married Vera Furman on February 1, 1958, in McKeesport.
Frank served our country in the United States Army. He retired from Steamfitters Local 602 in Washington D.C.
He was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Linesville. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6037 and the American Legion.
Frank enjoyed model trains, golfing and was a certified pro golf club maker. He loved sports especially baseball and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball. Frank will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61years, Vera Funk; two daughters, Tina Grinnell of Espyville and Beth Ann Wilson of Lincoln, Delaware; 3 grandchildren, Holly Jackson and her husband, Aaron, Tiffany Joseph and her husband, Beau, and Jessica Grinnell; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Bruce Hibbs II, and a sister, June Filotei.
Calling hours will be on Friday, November 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. Additional calling will be Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11a.m. Saturday, November 9, at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville with Father Chris Hamlett as celebrant. Full military honors will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frank’s name to St. Paul’s, 339 East Jamestown Rd., Greenville, Pa 16125.
