Dorothy Williams Obituary

Dorothy Jean “Dot” Williams, 94, of Linesville, passed away Tuesday June 15, 2021, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home where she had resided for the past 5 1/2 years. It was Dorothy’s wish to live there as she always said she “didn’t want to be a burden to her children”. She began her residence there to recover from a fall, but then a period of failing health followed. She was a fighter to the end.

Born October 22, 1926 in Meadville, PA, she was the youngest child of August and Marie Thoman Scheppelmann. Dorothy married Douglas L. Williams on October 16, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1977. She never entertained the thought of remarrying because she said “there would never be another Doug”.

She was a 1944 graduate of Linesville High School. Dorothy attended Beauty Operator School in Detroit and was self employed as a beautician for over 50 years at her home. She enjoyed the company of her patrons and many times offered coffee and cookies, a pick up or a ride home. Dorothy cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She followed her grandchildren everywhere to watch their activities. Dorothy could also be found at the LHS gym watching girls and boys basketball with many of her lady friends. Dorothy was best known for her pie baking and helping out at the Linesville Presbyterian church where she was a lifelong member. In her younger years she enjoyed biking, gardening, playing cards and could be spotted walking about town. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #120.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Welch and her husband, Bill, of Edwards, Colorado and a son, Douglas Williams and his wife Robin, of Linesville; five grandchildren, Lindsey (Chris)Whelan of Reston, Virginia, Brian (Maddie) Welch of Eagle, Colorado, Alexandra(Nick)Carman of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Doug (Stephanie) Williams Jr of Conneautville and Taylor (Stephanie Wentz) Williams of Meadville;Six great-granddaughters, Parker and Payton Whelan, Laina and Dylan Welch, Charlotte Carman and Oakley Williams. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Augusta Marie, Heinrich, Meta, Wilhelm, and Elfrieda and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Royal-Coleman Funeral Home 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A private graveside service will be held for family only.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on August 28, 2021 at the home of Doug and Robin Williams.
