Obituary

Carl Howard Sherretts, 79, of Linesville went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 27, 2023, at his residence after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Born November 28, 1943, in Meadville, he was the son of Warren and Helen (Carter) Sherretts.  He married Laura Ann Kightlinger on October 11, 1987.

Carl was a 1961 graduate of Linesville High School.  He owned his own Excavating business, built many ponds, owned a gravel pit.  He was a farmer at heart, raised beef cattle and crop farmed.  A “MacGyver” and a “Tinker,” he was by trade an auto body repair man, for over 40 years, he had partnership with Larry Welcheck.

He was a humble, talented and honest man.  Carl loved his family living so near to him.  As “Mayor of Sherrettsville” he built several houses, the first one when he was 19 years old.  He took pride in the log home Laura and he built, from the trees, he helped plant with his grandfather, as a young boy.  Carl built over 20 “Deluxe” hunting stands, shared his love of the outdoors and hunting with family and friends.  Known for his maple syrup production, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning and freezing the harvest with Laura. He shared his bounty with others.  He was a John Deere enthusiast.

Carl was an active lifelong member of Linesville First Baptist Church and was instrumental in the construction of the church and social hall.  He loved his church family and loved his Lord.  He touched the lives of many and was loved by all.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Laura Sherretts; four children, Patricia (Kelly) Davis, Guy (Kay) Sherretts, Ty Johnson and Sandi (Mike) Wise; six grandchildren, Matthew Sherretts, Nicole Sherretts, Chad Davis, Cory (Julie) Davis, Brandon Wise and Brooke Laura Wise; three great-granddaughters, twins, Rozalyn and Lennaye Sherretts and Blake Davis; two sisters, Evelyn Willis of Saegertown and Madeline Leighty of Illinois; brother, Glen (Joni) Sherretts of Conneautville; sister-in-law, Penny (Dave) Myers; brother-in-law, Roy (Darlene) Kightlinger; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousin, George Sherretts; and special friends, Pastor Art Barnes, Denny Phillips, Lori Huber, Kenny Chapman, Greg Peters and Cathy Kornman,
