William E. Eckart Sr.

William E. Eckart Sr., 82, of  Norrisville, passed away surrounded by all his family on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Meadville Medical Center.

Born October 31, 1938, in Meadville he was the son of Gerald and LaVerne (VanBuren) Eckart.  He married Donna L. Kimple on May 10, 1958, at the Norrisville United Methodist Church.

Bill was a 1957 graduate of Saegertown High School.  For 36 years, he was employed at Seco/Warwick Corporation in Meadville as a pipefitter and later moved to maintenance.  Bill also was self-employed and had a meat cutting business for over forty years.

He was a member of the Norrisville United Methodist Church.  He also was a member of Penn-Ohio Model A Ford Club and was a life member of the Hayfield Fire Department.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason.  Bill was a member of the Western Crawford Lodge #258 in Conneautville where he was a six time past master and an instructor.  He also was a member of the Zem Zem Shriners in Erie.

Bill ran their family farm and loved riding his tractor and working the fields.  He enjoyed raising Arabian horses and German Sheperd dogs.  Bill loved the Crawford County Fair and had attended for over 50 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, farming, mowing his yard.  He was extremely proud of his family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Donna Eckart; three children, Gerald W. Eckart and his companion, Dawn Buttray, of Norrisville, Marla J. Eckart Lopus of Norrisville and William E. Eckart Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Bernville, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Clarissa Manross and her husband, Jason, Tyler Lopus, Kelsey Cleary and her husband, Kyle, William E. Eckart III, Corrine Eckart, Joseph Eckart, Peter Eckart and Angelica Mosley; three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Manross,  Colton Manross and Ella Cleary; a sister-in-law, Eileen Eckart of Littles Corners; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Eckart; a son-in-law, Timothy J. Lopus; and a daughter-in-law, Denise Gardner.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Hwy 6, Linesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norrisville United Methodist Church, 17920 N. Norrisville Road, Conneautville, Pa 16406 or the Conneaut Valley Masonic Hall Association, in care of Richard Carr, Secretary at 514 West Oak St., Titusville, Pa 16354.
