Sidney Scott Wheeler, 81, of Linesville, formerly of Edinboro, passed away, Monday, December 2, 2013 after an extended illness.
Born March 20, 1932 in Monroe, Louisiana, he was a son of John and Dolly Lee Wheeler. He married Lois Mae Young on September 12, 1957.
He attended high school in Romulus, Michigan. Sidney served our country in the National Guard and later the United States Army from 1951 until honorably discharged in 1953.
For twenty years, he worked for the House of Edinboro furniture store as a master upholsterer and foreman. Sidney and his wife were the owners and operators of Wheeler Trucking and was also affiliated with Jones Motors and Morgan Drive Away. Also, he drove carrier service for Panther Transportation. Sidney worked as an escort driver for oversized freight and then retired at the age of 75.
He attended Linesville United Methodist Church. Sidney enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping, hunting and fishing. He liked playing cards with family and friends and had a passion for reading. He was always ready with a twinkle in his eye to tell a good joke and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Mae Wheeler; a son, Jeffery Scott Wheeler of Edinboro; a daughter, Susan Belfiore of Meadville; a son-in-law, Gary Belfiore of Woodcock; four grandchildren, Erin Beth Mendicino and her husband, Joseph, Amber Sue Wheeler, Jeffery Scott Wheeler II and Wesley Davis Wheeler; four great-grandchildren, Cora, Aaliyah, Ruth and Caitlynn Rose; two sister-in-laws, Patricia Alward and her husband, Charles, of Edinboro and Rita Hayes and her husband, Donald, of Edinboro; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Jean Eastman.
As per Sidney’s request, cremation was chosen and there will be no calling hours or services.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Linesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, Linesville, Pa 16424.
Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
