Sarah (Sally) Ann (Marsteller) Gillette, 83, of Linesville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Meadville Medical Center.  She passed into eternity peacefully while in the presence of her family as they joined hands and sang her favorite hymns.

Born September 30, 1929, in Hubbard, Ohio, Sarah was the youngest of two daughters born to Cledith and Sarah Rees Marsteller.  Following her graduation from Westminster College, Sarah taught music in the Linesville school district before her marriage to Francis Gillette in December of 1952, and the subsequent rearing and training of their ten children.  Sarah later returned to teaching as a substitute in the Meadville and Cochranton areas.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Linesville and actively served as a Sunday school teacher, youth choir and orchestra director, Awana helper, and worship team member.  Sarah possessed the gift of mercy; was kind, thoughtful, giving, loved animals, and could bake a great pie.  For many years, she volunteered her time at area nursing homes as a worship leader and often played her violin at services.  Sarah played in the Greenville Symphony for decades.  She was a member of the Tuesday morning music club in Meadville.

Sarah is survived by her husband of 60 years, Francis P. Gillette; her ten children, Diane Hall and her husband, John, of Erie, Thomas Gillette and his wife, Nina, of Linesville, Alice Anderson and her husband, Tom, of Erie, Ted Gillette and his wife, Ginelle, of Meadville, Tim Gillette and his wife, Kim Lee, of Linesville, Joy Rendulic and her husband, Chris, of Erie, Troy Gillette and his wife, Pam, of Piscataway, New Jersey, Tod Gillette and his wife, Lilliana, of Meadville, Melissa Good and her husband, Bill, of Linesville, and Carol Pero and her husband, Mike, of Meadville; 33 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rae McGrath; and a granddaughter, Andrea Gillette.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.  Additional calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Linesville First Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday at the Linesville First Baptist Church, 6114 U.S. Hwy 6, Linesville, with Pastor Art Barnes and Pastor Terry Smith of the church officiating.

Burial will be private in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, Inc., 4800 Jonestown Rd., Suite 102, Harrisburg, Pa 17109-1741 or the Linesville First Baptist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 387, Linesville, Pa 16424.
