Ruth Ann (Burchfield) Moyer

Ruth Ann Moyer, 92, of Harmonsburg, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Wesbury in Meadville.

Born August 29, 1926, in Minerva, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Nellie (Van Meter) Burchfield.  She married Richard (Dick) Lee Moyer on May 29, 1947, in Canton, Ohio.

Ruth was a graduate of Minerva High School in Ohio.  She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio for 2 ½ years.  At the age of 38, she attended and graduated from Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing and then worked there for 9 years.  Ruth was an Industrial Nurse at Amcast for 11 years and finished her career at Hillside Home.   Also, she was a librarian at Henretta Memorial Library in Harmonsburg.

She was a member of the Harmonsburg United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school.   She also was a member of the Red Hats Society.

Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.  She cherished her grandchildren and attended many of their activities. She and her husband loved spending their winters in Florida.  Ruth will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 72 years, Richard Lee (Dick) Moyer; two sons, Richard D. Moyer and his wife, Sydney, of Meadville and James R. Moyer and his wife, Kathy, of Linesville; 8 grandchildren, James Zakostelecky (Becca), Sean Zakostelecky (Tina), Ginger Moyer, Thomas Moyer, David Moyer, Leslie Ferguson (Joe), Samantha Moyer, and Lauren Moyer; 12 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Karen Parsons (Bill).

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas R. Moyer; a daughter, Rebecca L. Zakostelecky; and her four siblings, Violet Black, Russell O’Rourke, Harold Burchfield and John Burchfield.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at noon with Rev. Jim Tubbs officiating.

Burial will be will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Harmonsburg, Pennsylvania.
