Orpha S. Mead, 88, of Linesville, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at Rolling Fields in Conneautville, where she had resided for the past year.
Born December 5, 1922 in Springboro, she was the daughter of William J. and Nellie Richardson Mastin. She married William’H. Mead on August 1, 1944 in New York City; he preceded her in death in 1991.
Oxpha was a 1940 graduate of Conneaut Valley. She owned and operated the Shamrock Restaurant in Conneautville, Also, she had worked at Rauscher’s Dairy Isle and the Linesville Boat Livery.
She was a member of the Linesville American Legion, Post 462 and the Pymatuning Sportsman's Club in Linesville. Ospha was of the Catholic faith.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bingo and going to card club. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family especially hee grandchildren.
Survivors include her five children, Yvonne Shouey of Polk City, Florida, Lynette (Susie) Actis of Linesville, Jeffrey Mead and his wife, Diane, of Conneautville, Robert J. Mead of Conneautville, and Marianne Kinch and her husband, Andrew, of Linesville; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildcen; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Lois, Lockwood of Zanesville, Ohio; a brother, Carl Mastin and his wife, Mary, of Linesville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sons, Dale Milton (Butch) Mead and William Eae Mead; a brother, William J. Martin; and a sister, Kathryn Hague.
Calling houss will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 US. Highway 6, Linesville. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Anderson of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church in Conneaut Lake officiating, Busial will be in Linesville Cemetery.
