Martha Eaton Adsit, “Miss Eaton”

Miss Eaton’s Teeny Tiny Voice has gone silent.  Known as Miss Eaton to her many students in Harmonsburg, Pennsylvania and before that, in Dorset, Ohio, Martha Eaton Adsit of Linesville, PA and Silver Springs, FL passed away on December 14, 2025, at St. Paul's Senior Living Community, Greenville, PA. She graduated from Linesville High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree from what is now PennWest Edinboro and earned a Master’s degree from Westminster College. She began her teaching career in the Jefferson, Ohio school district before moving to the Conneaut School District retiring, in 1994. (Her students knew her “Teeny Tiny Voice” as an example of exaggeration, and was mentioned in the book THE GYM SHOW by Kelly Springer.)

After retirement, she enjoyed quilting and travel, eventually buying a second home in Silver Springs. After her marriage, she and her husband were active in his ship’s reunion organization which she continued even after his death.

Martha was born October 21, 1938, the child of Bert Samuel Eaton and Madge Irene McGranahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlton Abram Adsit Jr, father Bert Samuel Eaton, mother Madge Irene McGranahan Schneider, sister Wilda Morian, brothers Bert Hazlett Eaton, Charles Edwin Eaton and Richard Allen Eaton Sr, as well as long term companions Robert Grimes and Lou Pancoast and four stepfathers. And, at the time of her passing, Martha was considered part of the Rendulic, Bishoff and Phelps families.

She is survived by her step-children Cathalene Ruth Adsit, Charlene E. Garvey, Corrine Lucille Howell and Charlton Adsit III as well as by her Eaton, Parks & McCool cousins, by several nieces and nephews (both honorary and by blood), by several close friends and neighbors and by dozens of previous 3rd and 5th graders.

She was loved and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. John Balliet of the Lineville United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Adsit Cemetery in Conneaut Lake at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Linesville Community Public Library, P.O. Box 97 or the Linesville Historical Society, P.O. Box 785, both of Linesville, PA 16424.
