Mark A. Shallenberge February 7, 1977 ~ August 10, 2011 Mark Alan Shallenberger, 34, of Saegertown, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, due to injuries sustained in an automobile crash. Born February 7, 1977, in Latrobe, he was a son of Dennis and Mildred Wagner Shallenberger. He was very involved with Boy Scouts for Troop 220 in Harmonsburg and achieved Eagle Scout in 1994, Mark graduated from Linesville High School in 1995, He attended Penn State University, graduating in 1999 with a degree in telecommunications. While at college he was a member of the Penn State Choir and worked for the local PBS station. He worked in telecommunications for various television stations in Erie and more recently as a stringer for local television news. He also worked in the behavioral health field at Bethesda Children’s Home in Meadville. He pursued many interests which included community service, Skywarn, environmental conservation, and Amateur Radio (call sign N3PBQ). He was a member of the Woodcock Borough council A proud and devoted father, Mark’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his sons Trevor and Ryan. Survivors include two sons, Trevor James and Ryan Cole Shallenberges; his mother, Mildred Shallenberger of Linesville; two sisters, Rana Boacdley and her husband, Kenneth R., of Linesville, and Julie Shallenberger of Springfield, Virginia; two nephews, Gavin and Carter Boardley; grandmothers, Dorothiy Shallenberger of Ellwood City and Betty Geilhard of Meadville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis John Shallenberger; and grandfathers, James Lawrence Shallenberger and Robert George Wagner. ‘The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 US. Highway 6, Linesville. A memosial service will follow on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contsibutions may be made in his name to the Boys Scouts of America, 1815 Robison Rd. West, Esie, Pa 16509; or The Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, Neb. 68410.
