Loyal J. (Jim) McCormick Sx, 72, of Jamestown, formerly of Butler, passed away Tuesday, November 09, 2010 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville after a nine year battle with cancer.
Born June 5, 1938 in Renfrew, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John and Margaret Estella Fehl McCormick. He married Margaret (Peg) Bowser on March 9, 1957 in Butler.
He was of the Methodist faith. In 1956, he graduated from Penn Township High School. After 30 years, he retired in 1987 as a machinist from Armco Steel in Butler.
Jim loved to play and sing country music and he had a band called “Easy Loving” for many years. He was an avid Junter and fisherman. He was a member of the Pymatuning Sportsman Club in Linesville and the Greenville Moose Club.
Survivors include his wife Margaret (Peg) McCormick; two daughters, Cheryl Dropp and her husband, Joseph, of Gibsonia and Pam Bicchouse and her husband, Keith, of Prospect; two sons, Loyal (Jamie) McCormick Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Butler and Scott McCormick and his wife, Denise, of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Thompson and her husband, David, of Butler; and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, and two brothers. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. A funeral service will follow the calling hours on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home with
Pastor Mike Popik officiating.
