Linda Andrew May 10, 1939 ~ June 9, 2011
Linda Kay Patton Andrew, 72, of Leach Road, Espyville, passed on peacefully June 9, 2011, at home as a result of complications from an ongoing two-year battle against cancer
Linda was born on May 10, 1939, the daughter of Robert Paul and Martha June (Stewart) Patton of West Middletown, PA, She married James Eustis Andrew on September 30, 1961, at the Grove Presbyterian Church in West Middletown. ‘They made theie first home at Chestnut Grove Farm in Prosperity, PA, and later established a new home in E’spyville, Pa, naming it Andrew Grove Farm in honor of their original farm. Jimmy, her husband of nearly 50 years, survives at home
After graduation from ‘Trinity High School, Washington, PA, in 1957, she enrolled at Muskingum College where she carned a degrce in nutrition and dietetics and became a registered dietician, She served an internship at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and went on to work at Washington Hospital in Washington, PA. In 1997, after 17 years of service as a dietician, she retired from UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville, PA, but continued to work in the busin had created with her husband: Andrew Grove Farm and |E. Andrew and Sons Farm and Lawn Equipment, Inc. For the past several years, she and Jim enjoyed a semi-retirement and also enjoyed wintering in Leesburg, Florida,
Since moving to Espyville in 1977, Linda had been a member of the Meadville ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). She was an ever-present inspiration as a teacher, music director, and library helper at the ward. She was an active home teacher and Relief Society servant. Linda also served her community and was previously a board member of the North Shenango Community Center and the local election board. She also served
4-H and Cub Scout leader and on the Dairy Princess Committee in earlier years. In recent years, she participated in the Living Christmas ‘Tree concerts in Conneaut Lake. Her interests at home included sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, and trying new recipes. In addition, she enjoyed attending shows at the Academy and Meadville Community theaters, watching the and the Pirates, and attending her geandchildren’s athletic events, concerts, and 4-H and FFA shows. “Granny Farm” was always fun, energetic, hard-working, helpful, and in all ways, loving, She will be sorely missed by those who survive.
In addition to her husband, Linda leaves a legacy of four sons and their families: J. Eric and Darla A. Andrew and their sons Jacob Hi, and Samuel R. Andrew of E'spyville; Jon R. and Ann Marie Andrew and their children Konnor M., Bailee K., Canyon R., and Siena J. Andrew of Overton, NV; Joseph E. and Rebecca L. Andrew and their children Cole J. Moore and Aubre J. Andrew of Espyville; and Joel Andrew of Conneaut Lake. Also surviving are her brother and his wife, Richard and Elaine Patton of West Middletown, Pa; a sister and her husband, Joyce and Gene Nagy of Mt. Gretna, Pa ; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Edwin and Nancy Andrew of Washington, PA. She is also survived by four nieces and two nephews and their families
Linda was preceded in death by her parents as well as her parents-in-law, Albert and Nora Andrew of Prosperity, PA. Also preceding her in death were a niece, Sharon Andrew, and a great-niece Bianca Loos.
Family and friends will be welcomed at calling hours Sunday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. at the Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway. 6, Linesville, PA.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funcral home, concluding with a graveside service. Interment will be at E’spyville Cemetery. ‘The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon and gathering, follow the graveside service, at the Nosth Shenango Volunteer Fire Department on Linn Road in Espyville. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Crawford Unit, 505 Poplar St., Meadville, Pa 16335, the North Shenango Volunteer Fire Department, 11658 Linn Rd., E’spyville, Pa 16424, or one of the organizations that Linda supported as mentioned above.
