John Henry Kohler, Jr., 88, of Linesville, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born October 4, 1923 in Jamestown, he was the son of John Henry, Ss. and Odessa Lynch Kohler. He masried Margaret Edna Lowing on March 26, 1949.
Johnny (as many called him) was teuly “a diamond in the cough.” He served our county in the US Army during WWII and fought at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He retired from the Bessemer Railroad in Greenville after 33 yeiss. He was a dedicated husband and an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Kohler; a son, Terry John Kohler and his wife, Shirley, of Linesville; two grandsons, Terry J. Koller, Je. and his wife, Cindy, of Hartstown and Rick L. Kohler and his wife, Sommer, of 1 inesville; six great-grandchildren, John, Elise, Kevin, Devyn, Jaclyn and Alex Kohler; and a sister, Iris Spencer and her husband, Bill, of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Me was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Norma Alford, and two brothers, Benjamin and Ralph Kohler.
Calling hougs will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 US. Highway 6, Linesville, A funeral service will follow the calling hours at the funeral home on Monday at 4 p.m. with Ken Saul, nephew-in-law, officiating, Full military honors will be provided by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 following the service.
