Jean Marie Carlson, 98, went to be with Jesus on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Juniper Village in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
Born July 8, 1927, in Sheffield, Pa, she was the daughter of Eraneus Walter and Jessie Dean (Ritchie) Cederlof.
Jean graduated from Sheffield High School, and from Orra-Jean Beauty Academy in Erie, as a Cosmetologist.
She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Elliott Carlson, after he returned from his service in the Navy in World War II, on April 26, 1947. They lived in Sheffield and moved to Warren, PA in 1952.
Her main focus was her family, her children and her husband. She worked at Walker’s Creamery, JC Penney’s, and United Refinery in Warren, PA.
Jean enjoyed playing basketball in high school, and roller skating in the roller skating rink owned by her Dad and Uncle. She was active in her church as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. Activities she enjoyed were golfing, bowling, and her bridge club.
Jean and Paul moved to Hampstead, NC after retirement where they enjoyed their hobbies, the ocean beaches, and she volunteered at a thrift store. She also lived in Wilmington, NC and Meadville, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul (2013); her son-in-law, Tom Cook (2017); her brother, Jerry Cederlof (2023); and her sister, Joyce Bell (2023).
Survivors include her son, Terry (Cindy) Carlson; her daughter, Rebecca Cook; grandsons, Zachary Cook, Adam (Kristen) Cook, Daniel (Jacqueline) Carlson, Michael (Kaitlyn) Carlson; great-grandsons Calvin Cook and Riggs Carlson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
