James (Jim) H. Hunt, 79, of Meadville, formerly of Linesville and Munhall, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Born April 24, 1947, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of George and Jacqueline (Foster) Hunt. He married Barbara L. Junstrom on September 1, 1973. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2021.
He was a 1965 graduate of Munhall High School. For many years Jim served as a paramedic, volunteer fire fighter and fire chief for Munhall Volunteer Fire Co. #1. Jim retired after 27 years from the Port Authority of Allegheny County. After retirement he worked for CATA in Crawford County and for the Conneaut Lake Aquatic Management Association.
Jim was a member of the Linesville First Baptist Church where he was active in serving in the youth ministry at the Gap and with Awana. He also served as a trustee, helped with the motorcycle ministry and helped in the kitchen.
Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include a son, Jay Hunt and his wife, Kristy; a daughter, Charlene David and her husband, Danny; five grandchildren, Ryan Hunt, Matthew Hunt, A.J. Hunt, Brandi David and Ryan David; his siblings, Darryl, Darlene, Donna and George; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara Hunt; and three sisters, Jackie, Marsha and Bubby.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
Additional calling hours will be on Monday, August 10 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Linesville First Baptist Church, 6114 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville. A funeral service will follow on Monday at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Chris McLaughlin and Pastor Terry Smith co-officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Linesville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 387, Linesville, Pa 16424.
