George James Warren, 75 of Linesville passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, in Sebring, Florida.

He was born in Pittsburgh on August 29, 1938, to Alexander and Emma Hilda Krause Warren.  He married Alma Myers on August 15, 1981.

George graduated from Pymatuning Joint High School in Jamestown.   After graduation in 1956, George served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lowry.  When he returned to Jamestown, he began his employment at Jamestown Paint Company, from which he retired in 1994.  He had also been employed by Wolfe Motors in Greenville, American General Insurance, A.L. Williams Investment Company and Page’s Auto Parts in Conneaut Lake.

Membership in the Lions Club of Jamestown, the Zem Zem Shrine Club of Erie, the Crawford County Shrine Club, in which he was a former president, and the Crawford County Motor Patrol, where he was also a former president, were important to George.  He was on the committee that formed the Jamestown Alumni Association and served as its first president.  George was also a member of some social clubs including the American Legion Post 0111, the Pymatuning Sportsmen’s Club, the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842, and the Jamestown Fireman’s Club and Jamestown Firemen.   When he was in Sebring, he served as Parliamentarian on the Sunny Pines Association Board.

George’s interests and activities included golfing, supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers, challenging himself with Jeopardy questions, keeping in touch with friends through the internet, and most recently he was on Facebook.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Warren and two daughters, Cynthia Heim and her husband, George, of Jamestown and Paulla Johnson and her husband, Chuck, of Fredonia.  He is further survived by four grandchildren, Brock Johnson of Ambridge, Brandon Johnson of Meadville, Brittany Johnson and her fiancé, Bill Zakovec, of Cleveland, and Sarah Bartolozzi and her husband, Nello, of Pittsburgh.  One great-granddaughter, Savannah Johnson of Fredonia also survives.  Other survivors include, two brothers, Alexander Warren and his wife, Joan, of New Castle and William Warren and his wife, Connie, of Conneaut Lake, a sister, Alice Reagle and her husband, Ray, of Ellwood City and St Petersburg, Florida.  Additionally he is survived by three sister-in-laws; Gertrude Warren of Greenville, June Dietz of Linesville and Arlene Santner of Conneaut Lake; one brother-in-law, Curt Myers of Conneaut, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy Christy and her husband, Donald, and two brothers, Donald and Edgar Warren.

Calling hours for George will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home following the calling hours at 4 p.m. with Ron Courtney officiating.

Burial will be private in St. Philip Cemetery in Linesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, Pa 16505, the Salvation Army or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
