Edward C. Matukonis March 3, 1929 - February 28, 2011 Edward C. Matukonis, 81, of Espyville, passed away, Monday, February 28, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He had resided in Espyville for the last 22 years. Born March 3, 1929 in Ho: | he was the son of Benedict and Constance Baranauskaus Matukonis. He married Matilda Mysona on March 26, 1953 in Homestead; she preceded him in death on October 3, 2002. Edward served our country in the US. Army during World War II. For 35 years, he worked as a crane operator in the Power and Fuel Department and retired in 1983 from US. Steel Homestead Works. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and he cherished his grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia imbers and her husband, Christopher, of Mansfield, Ohio, Lora Matukonis of Espyville, and Jodie Chisholm and her husband, Paul, of Espyville; three grandchildren, Kellijo Barnwell of Mansfield, and Jamie and Faith Chisholm of Espyville; a brother, Joe Matukonis and his wife, Nancy, of Durham, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three sisters, Ona Matukonis, Sylvia Matukonis, and Cassie Varley; and a brother Ben Matukonis, Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 US. Highway 6, Linesville. ‘The funeral will be 11 a.m, Saturday at the funeral home, with Father John A. Walsh, of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Busial will be in Espyville Cemetery with military honors provided by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2006. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
