Claire Adele Holmes, 88, of Linesville, Pa, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
Born March 31, 1924 in Corry, Pa, she was the daughter of Glenn and Minnie Mitchell Freeman.
In 1941, she graduated from Linesville High School. Claire then graduated from Meadville Commercial College and first worked for Viscose Corporation as a secretary. Upon her marriage on February 14, 1948 to her husband, Gerald, they worked together in their florist shop “Holmes Florist” in Linesville.
She was an active member of the Linesville United Methodist Church having sung in the choir for many Years, Claire also played the piano for the youth choir and held many offices. She enjoyed gardening, Cooking and loved the large family picnics they had,
Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Gerald. She is also survived by three children, including a set of twins, They are Karen Mandalas and her husband, Nick, of Butler the twins Debby Bullock and her husband, Rick, of Greensburg and Denny Holmes and his wife, Carol, of Conneautville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Doug, Glenn, Greg, Emily, Sarah, Stefanie, Tiffany, Dennis, Robby and Patty; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother Bill Freeman of Meadville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be private in Linesville Cemetery.
