Cary Dean was born in Warren, Ohio and was the son of Mary Lou Reckner and Gary Wrataric.
Cary Dean Wrataric of Conneaut Lake passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2026. Cary Dean spent his life exactly the way he wanted to and doing what made him happy - being outdoors If you were looking for him you would most likely find him at Pymatuning Lake, Conneaut Lake or in the swamps. He would be fishing, hunting, catching snapping turtles or just sitting by the water.
He wasn't fancy and didn't need much. He preferred quiet days by the water, walks in the woods or just being outside enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. He had a way of making the outdoors feel like his home - not just for himself but for anyone who wanted to tag along.
Cary Dean was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leo and Marion Reckner; his uncle Dale Reckner and his brother David Wrataric.
He is survived by his mother Mary Lou Reckner; his father Gary Wrataric; his sister Jody (David) Iadanza; sister in law Bobbi Wrataric and his son James Wrataric and his grandchildren Macayla and Bailey Wrataric. In addition he has two nieces Megan Vavrick and Emily Iadanza along with his three nephews Clayton Wrataric, Aaron Vavrick and Aiden Iadanza.
Pymatuning Lake and Conneaut Lake won't be the same without him but they will forever hold the memory of the "turtle man" who truly belonged there.
