Betty M. Braswell, 93, of Linesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at her residence.
Born July 22, 1922, in Greenville, she was the daughter of Clifford and Grace Hovis Long. She married Clyde S. Braswell Jr. on September 24, 1945 in Greenville. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2002.
In 1946, she and her husband built and were owners along with Glenn and Louise Shellito of the Auto Market of Linesville, which became the Linesville Golden Dawn. She had worked for Ohio Rubber for 13 years and later also worked at the Linesville Golden Dawn.
Betty was a member of the Linesville United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Linesville Diamond Chapter 120 Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842 Ladies Auxiliary.
Most of all, Betty cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary E. Modolo and her husband, John, of Woodstock, Virginia, Janice I. Reynolds of Concord, North Carolina, and Maggie L. Jablonski of Linesville; a son, S. Lee Braswell of Linesville; seven grandchildren, Nicole Moore, Jennifer Hawkins, Susan Imposimato, Kimberly Spence, S. Neil Braswell, Jodie Kral and Adam Jablonski; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Gladys Stein and Louise Charter; three brothers, Bill, Richard and Donald Long; and a great-grandson, Seth Hawkins.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. Additional calling hours will be on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held 11a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dennis E. Lawton of the Linesville United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Linesville Cemetery.
