Anne Kessler Smith of Linesville, PA, formerly of Wall Township, passed away peacefully on Monday March 17, 2014 after a brief illness.

Born in Wall Township to Ida and Elias Kessler, Anne was a graduate of Manasquan High School.  She married George F. Smith, a Marine stationed at Earle Naval base, in 1946.

Anne enjoyed being active both physically and mentally.  She was an ice skater in her younger years, and loved to garden and work on her family’s farm.  She was also an accomplished seamstress, and spent many hours crocheting and reading.  She and her husband retired to Alabama and then Georgia, where they played golf and tennis.  But her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren, whether teaching them to hit a baseball, to catch crabs or to make funnel cakes in the old frying pan.

Anne was a member of St. Catherine of Siena parish in Farmingdale, New Jersey.

She is survived by her husband, George, and her six children, Michele Weiner, Andrea Solazzo, Douglas Smith, Dennis Smith, Timothy Smith and Tracey Elsey; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24 at the Chapel at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 31 Asbury Rd., Farmingdale, New Jersey.  All are welcome to join the family for luncheon immediately following the service at the Spring Meadow Inn.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Honor Flight Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.
