Alice Catherine Oates, 79, formerly of Linesville, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Born July 22, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Edmund and Catherine Alice Cahill.  She married Ira (Joe) Oates on February 5, 1955, and they resided in Chicago, Illinois until moving to Linesville in 1980.  He preceded her in death on February 11, 2008.

She was a member of St. Philip’s Church in Linesville.

Alice enjoyed camping, reading, shopping and playing cards.  She loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Terri Shelatz and her husband, Barry, of Conneaut Lake and Patricia Herman and her husband, Greg, of Kenosha, Wisconsin; a son James Oates and his wife, Deborah, of Bartlett, Illinois; five granddaughters, Jessica Thompson and her husband, Tim, Janelle Agnew and her husband, George, and Jillian, Jordyn, and Jennifer Shelatz; two grandson’s Robert Oates and Christopher Oates and his wife, Angie; ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Anna, and Canaan Thompson, Avalee, Eloise and Everett Agnew, Alexander Maillard, Stella Chotta, and MacKenzie and John James Oates; a brother, Joseph Cahill of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Richard and Thomas Cahill.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to your local humane society.
