Alberta I. (Maka) Mushrush, 101, formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Rolling Fields in Conneautville where she had resided for the past two years.
Born August 13, 1912, in Greenwood Township, she was the daughter of Sylvester and Lena Mae Loper Shallenbarger.
Alberta raised her family of five children with her husband Robert A. Mushrush in Conneaut Lake. She was a loving and devoted homemaker and caring for her family was her number one priority. Robert and Alberta moved to Florida in 1957, settling in the Bowling Green area. Robert preceded her in death in 1977.
She was active in her church and the Grange when she lived in Bowling Green. She enjoyed crossword and picture puzzles and loved going to dances with her husband.
The last few years of her life she made her home with her granddaughter, Linda Klimko and her husband, Dennis, in Leesburg, Florida and the last two years at Rolling Fields.
To one and all she was Maka “The Beloved One.”
Survivors left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Lois Hood and her husband, Shyrl, of Linesville, Nancy Bird and her husband, Derry, of Factoryville, and Delilia Shepard of Dandridge, Tennessee; a daughter in-law, Louise Mushrush; a son–in-law, Roy Wade; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren. All were very cherished and special to her and each one knew it.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Luella Wade; a son, Robert Leroy Mushrush; three grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel and Vera; and two brothers, Arthur and Leon.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis E. Lawton, Pastor of the Linesville and Harmonsburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. A picnic luncheon will be held at the Linesville United Methodist Church prior to the service at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Mushrush Cemetery in East Fallowfield Township.
