Ruth Etta (Wescott) Lauffer-Bowes, 83, a 5-year resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, while cuddling her stuffed Lamb Chop.

The second daughter of Alice Leticia (Ramp) and Ellis Oliver Wescott of Geneva, Pennsylvania, was born at the home of her grandparents, Cyrus and Jessie Wescott on Aug. 31, 1933 in Geneva.

Ruth married Lawrence W. Lauffer on May 12, 1951 in Geneva (divorced in 1964).  On June 12, 1978, she also married in Geneva, Richard (Dick) Arden Bowes of Chicago, IL (formerly of Saegertown).

She was employed as a waitress in many local restaurants (Silver Shores, Iroquois Club, Hour Glass, and the Mark) and then with Molded Fiber Glass, Inc., Linesville until 1978.  Originally, Ruth and Dick retired in Punta Gorda, Florida but in 1994 moved to the city of Avon Park, Florida.

Ruth was a movie star enthusiast (Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton topped her list)!  She loved music and played guitar, piano, and organ.  She enjoyed a wide range of music from Gospel to Country to Contemporary. Back in the day, Ruth lived to travel and shop!  Her life always revolved around the latest fashions, cosmetics, and hairstyles!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard (Dick) Bowes; a sister, Evelyn Gertrude Rodgers; and a brother, Howard Oliver Wescott.

Ruth is survived by a son, John O. Lauffer, and wife, Martha (Tuny) of Conneaut Lake; three daughters, Shirley Kohler and husband, Terry of Linesville; Betty Doane and husband, Dean of Reynoldsville and Patty Strange, and husband, Kane of Lowell, Flordia; a brother, Ernst P. Wescott and wife, Claudia of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Candice Wescott of Riverside California; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

On behalf of Ruth, much love and thanks is extended to her Rolling Fields family and Day Care.

There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
