Geraldine Slayton, 77, of Espyville, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community in Greenville, where she had resided for the past four years.
Born July 17, 1941, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Agnes Grande Malara. She married Lewis Slayton on September 20, 1969, in Pittsburgh.
Geraldine retired in 1999, after 32 years as a Pharmacist Technician at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She volunteered and then later worked at Alice Shafer Elementary School in Linesville for several years.
She loved fishing, shopping, tending to her flower gardens, and cleaning and taking care of her home. She enjoyed reading and always had a book in her hand.
Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Lewis Slayton; a sister, Antoinette Ruth of Pittsburgh; a brother, Anthony J. Malara Jr. of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Smith of the Linesville First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Espyville Cemetery.
