      George Morris Herrick, 98, of Linesville passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Rolling Fields in Conneautville.

      Born March 21, 1918, in Conneaut Township, he was the son of Hermie and Beatrice Thayer Herrick.  He married Genevieve Hays on May 28, 1940.  She preceded him in death on September 5, 2010. 

      George was a lifelong dairy farmer and hauled milk for many of the local farmers to the milk plant in Springboro.  He also worked as the Conneaut Township supervisor for many years.    

      He had attended Watson Run Presbyterian Church.  He was active in the Lakeland Valley Regional Senior Center in Linesville.

      George enjoyed playing cards, reading and storytelling.  He loved being outdoors fishing, gardening and traveling.   George enjoyed his many dogs and working with his horses on the farm.  George was happy when he got to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      Survivors include; two daughters, Beatrice Hawn and her husband, Bernie, of Linesville and Susan Azevedo of Ocala, Florida; a son, Thomas Herrick of Fernandina Beach, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Herrick of Ithaca, New York; a son-in-law, Jerry Azevedo of Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren, Brian Hawn of Meadville, Bradley Hawn of Linesville, Brett Hawn of Gardnerville, Nevada, Jaymee Sue Hendrix of Belleview, Florida, Matthew Herrick of Cedar Park, Texas, Laura Herrick of Denver, Colorado; 13 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Annie Jo, Hailee, Brandon, Alexander, Andrew, Lainey, Cole, Zachary, Sydney, Jacob, and Sydney; and a cousin, Neal Thayer and his companion, Maxine Henningsen, of Boardman, Ohio.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Hays Herrick, his parents, and a grandson, Anton (Tony) Azevedo.

      A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Linesville Cemetery, on Wallace Avenue in Linesville, with Rev. Rachel Johns of the Linesville Presbyterian Church, officiating.

      In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to the Linesville Community Public Library, P.O. Box 97, Linesville, Pa 16424.

      The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers especially Eileen on Cherry Street at Rolling Fields for the care and kindness they provided for George. 

      Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
