Donald (Duc) Byers Obituary

     Donald (Duc) C. Byers, 80, of Harmonsburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Meadville Medical Center, surrounded by his family. 

     Born March 30, 1938, in Harmonsburg, he was the son of Harry and Dorothy Catlin Byers.  He married Donna Ross on December 24, 1982, in Harmonsburg. 

     Duc was a 1957 graduate of Linesville High School.  He then served our country in the United States Marine Corps.

     He worked as a quality control inspector for Rockwell International and for Meadville Forge.  He was a member of the United Auto Workers. 

     Duc was of the Methodist faith.  He was a member of the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842. 

     He enjoyed maintaining their home and taking care of the lawn.  He loved his John Deere and his corvette and collected license plates.  Duc was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.  He was lovingly known by his daughter-in-law’s as Johnny Angel.

     Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Donna Byers; his children, Don Byers Jr. and his wife, Gina, Deanna Byers, Doug Byers, David Byers and his wife, Karole, Danielle Byers and her companion, David, Dennis Byers and his wife, Lisa, Danny Byers all of Austin, Texas, and Lori McLean and her husband, Scott, of Winder, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, Josie Stevens and her husband, Trevor, Katie Byers, Cassidy Byers, Doug Byers Jr., Hayley Byers, Lyndsey Seale and her husband, Collin, Whitney Sales and her husband, Weston, Colton Byers, Madison Byers, Ayden Byers, Cameron McLean, Clayton McLean, Cole McLean and Hayden Byers; 8 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Gracie, Matthew, Marley, Emma, Stedson, Sterling and Summit; a brother, John Byers and his wife, Helene, of Montreal, Canada; a sister, Carolyn Snyder of Cleveland, Ohio; brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law’s, Larry and Karen Corey of Linesville, Rachelle and Rob Reinhart of Linesville and Denise Johnson of Springboro; and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ken Snyder.       

     Calling on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.

     Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Tubbs officiating. 

     The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Summit Township Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 51, Harmonsburg, Pa  16422.
