Robert Stanley Kulak died peacefully at home in Guys Mills, Pennsylvania on June 28, 2016, after battling cancer.  Bob was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 7, 1950 to Eugenia (Marek) and Stanley Kulak Jr., their third child and first son.  He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Robin Schaef, his mother, a sister, Barbara Kulak Hickernell, a brother, David Jan Kulak, nieces and nephews, and countless friends throughout the country who accompanied him on his adventurous journey through life.  He is preceded in death by his father, Stanley, and sister, Jeanne Marie.   He lived at home with his three current rescue cats but loved many animals that shared his home and enhanced his life.

Bob was a graduate of Central High School, Class #227, in Philadelphia and attended Temple University studying physics.  Bob achieved his Eagle Scout status which began his love of spending time outdoors camping, hiking, rock climbing, rafting and sailing.   He opposed the war in Vietnam and publicly signed a declaration that he would not kill other human beings in his country’s name.  A free thinker and a free, adventurous spirit, Bob moved to Guys Mills in the early 1970s where he found homesteading to be a lifelong love and peace on his land.

Bob especially enjoyed live music.  He and Robin shuffled trips going to concerts, local and large.  He was proud to be a part of music history at Woodstock and musical events.

Bob mastered many trades working as a stone mason, carpenter, electrician and road inspector which eventually led to his currently owned business, ABC Inspections, as a Building Code Official.  He loved his job and the many people he served along the way, always willing to help anyone in need.

Along with his mastery of skills, he enjoyed being a White Water rafting guide along the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania, the Cheat and Gauley Rivers in West Virginia.  He was a Nordic Ski Patroller and enjoyed alpine skiing.  He was a first mate sailing in the Caribbean on numerous vacations.  He and Robin were known for their creative Halloween parties, 44 of them which included spectacular fireworks displays.  They loved hosting many summer barbeques where all friends were always welcome.  He was a naturalist at heart as shown by his love of the land, his organic vegetable and flower gardens, and his sharing of those fruits of his land.

Bob mastered yet another hobby, woodworking.  He made furniture, cabinets, and refurbished antiques.  He will be known mostly for his delicate artistic snowflakes.

The family thanks the staff and doctors at UPMC The Hillman Cancer Center and Crawford County Hospice for helping Bob through his last weeks.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Friends are encouraged to remember Bob by donating to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa 16335 and by doing good deeds for those in need.

Burial will be private in Linesville Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Hwy 6, Linesville.
