James Lee (Jim) Dugan, 86, of Conneautville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Rolling Fields in Conneautville.

Born April 15, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to Murrel and Ocie May Davis Dugan.

He entered the Army-Air Force in 1947 where he eventually earned his GED.  Jim married Reba Ann Young on April 15, 1954, in Akron, Ohio.  She preceded him in death on February 16, 2005.  He served 21 ½ years of active duty starting in the Army Air Force and eventually changing to the Air Force.  He travelled all over the world and was stationed from Japan to Newfoundland to England and all over the United States.  He was involved with nuclear testing and other top secret assignments during his years in the military.

After retiring from the Air Force, he settled his family in the Conneautville area.  He drove for Anderson Bus Lines for 15 years where he was known as the Irish Coachman.  After retiring from Anderson’s, he went to work at the Meadville Medical Center where he was a security guard at the front desk for another 15 years.  He instilled in his family a fantastic work ethic.

Jim was a very generous man.  He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association.  He loved to hunt and was an avid gun collector.  His greatest joy was travelling.  He was never happier than when he was behind the wheel of a car or bus going one place or another.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Shrum and her husband, Darren, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Denise Hart and her husband, Rodney, of Cochranton; a son, Eric Dugan and his wife, Barbara, of Conneautville.  Also surviving are his loving grandchildren, Angela Marie Mumford and her husband, Adam, Samantha Lupo and her husband, Josh, Megan Charney and her husband, Chuck, Jessica Dugan, Seth Dugan, and James Hart and his wife, Alicia; three wonderful great-grandchildren, Allie Marie Mumford, William Lupo and Emma Charney; and a sister, Jayne Hohl of Akron, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Reba; a grandson, Samuel Hart; and a brother, Everett Dugan.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Phil Reinhart and Pastor Rodney Hart co-officiating.

Burial with full military honors, provided by the Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to the National Parkinson Foundation at www.parkinson.org or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Rolling Fields for the loving care they provided.
