      Edward J. Salsberry, 64, of Erie, formerly of Linesville, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, after a nine month battle with esophageal cancer. 

      Ed was born September 24, 1952, in Greene County, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Jane Spowls Salsberry.  He married Christine Watson on September 12, 1970 at the Linesville United Methodist Church. 

       He was a graduate of Linesville High School Class of 1970.  He then started working at Molded Fiber Glass his junior year and worked there until he began his career at General Electric in Erie.  After 34 years, he retired in 2009. 

      Ed and Chris enjoyed wintering for five years in Sebring, Florida.  He loved going to casinos, playing the lottery and scratch off tickets. 

      He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  Ed enjoyed scraping and recycling.  He loved spending time with his dog, Charlie. 

      Ed is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Chris.  Ed and Chris had three children together, Randy Salsberry and his wife, Dawn, of Meadville, Brian Salsberry and his girlfriend, Sandy Wright, of Ellwood City, and Lori Gehr and her husband, Steve of Valencia, Pa; seven grandchildren, Austin, Mya, and Maddox Salsberry of Meadville, Jacob Salsberry of Pittsburgh, Abigail and Christian Gehr of Valencia, and Sandy’s daughter, Natalie Wright of Ellwood City.  Ed is also survived by three brothers, Jerry Salsberry and his wife, Marilyn, of O’Brien, Florida, Gary Salsberry of Linesville and Roy Salsberry of Lady’s Island, South Carolina; four sisters, Karen Nickerson of Linesville, Joyce Widner and her husband, Lucky, of Spindale, North Carolina, Judy Oskin and her husband, David, of Linesville and Nancy Nickerson and her husband, Randy, of Linesville; his wife’s siblings, Don Watson of Conway, Pennsylvania, Tom and Bob Watson of San Antonio, Texas, Dave Watson of Geneva, Ohio and Toni Watson of Avondale, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene Salsberry and his in-laws Jack and Helen Watson.

      Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.  Additional calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. 

      A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Luke Oskin, nephew of Ed, officiating.
