     Andrew Thomas Valencic, 69, of Washington, Illinois, formerly of Espyville, passed away unexpectedly at 10:30 am Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his residence.

    He was born on December 21, 1947, in Natrona Heights, PA the son of Francis and Dorothea Szymkowiak Valencic. He married Sharon Wilson on September 26, 1970, in Erie, Pa.

     Surviving are his wife and their 8 children, A. Thomas (Tabitha) Valencic Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; Aaron (Megan) Valencic of Washington, Illinois; Abram (Jennifer) Valencic of Michigan City, Indiana; Anton (Ashley) Valencic of Las Vegas, Neveda; Adam (Meredith) Valencic of St. Louis, Missouri; Alex (Gretchen) Valencic of Savoy, Illinois; Amanda (Cameron) Wilson of Spanish Fork, Utah and Ariana Valencic of Washington, Illinois. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; three brothers Bill (Dian) Valencic of Wickenburg, Arizona; Tim (Rita) Valencic of Linesville; and Robert (Kelly) Valencic of Erie.  

     His parents, one brother Jaime and one grandson Joseph preceded him in death.

     He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was very active. He was a prolific song writer and musician. Tom could build anything he put his mind to out of PVC, duct tape and hot glue. He was loving husband, father and grandfather and always quick with a joke.

    Visitation was held Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2530 N. Morton Ave. in Morton, Illionis.  A funeral service was held, Saturday, February 11, 2017, also at the church with Bishop Donald Mehr officiating.  Burial followed his service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to JDRF Diabetes Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.  To share notes of condolences, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
